One of the key duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) involves overseeing the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents. This involves working with physicians and pharmacists to ensure relevant medication is administered, while following all infection control and emergency policies to ensure optimum results. As an LPN, it is also essential to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify and report any changes in residents’ condition that may require immediate attention

• The admissions process involves evaluating the medical and social needs of the residents and determining the appropriate type of care and services required
• Prescription requisitions handled by pharmacists and physicians
• Medication administration
• It is important to observe the center's infection control measures, emergency response protocols, and other policies
• A resident's interdisciplinary team is an integral part of providing the best possible outcomes for them
• Recognizing abnormal changes in residents' physical or mental condition is essential to being proactive about providing optimal care and timely treatment when necessary

Qualifications for becoming a licensed practical nurse (LPN) require completing an accredited diploma program or Associate's degree in practical nursing, and passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN):

• LPNs must be licensed by the State before they can practice nursing
• CPR Certification required
• It is preferred that the candidate has worked as a nurse for at least two years
