As a Physical Therapist Assistant in outpatient services, your primary responsibility will be providing direct care to patients of all ages, following established policies and procedures to accurately document every aspect of patient treatment. You will also support the operational activities of the Rehab Services Department and help deliver physical therapy services at external locations throughout nearby communities.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Shows appropriate critical thinking and discernment in delivering healthcare. Conducts all treatment procedures adhering to recognized national, institutional, and evidence-based parameters. Provides interventions that meet or exceed the department's specified outcome expectations.
  • Ensuring that documents are completed promptly and accurately to align with department requirements for medical necessity.
  • Completes and files essential paperwork for billing, ensuring accuracy in charges and authorizations.
  • Exhibits drive in individual professional development. Successfully completes all required education within the Monument Health system and for licensure/certification in a timely fashion. Actively markets the profession within Monument Health and to the wider community.
  • Includes and instructs patients, as well as their families and caregivers, in treatment, setting objectives, and planning for discharge as suitable.
  • Follows the approved physical therapy care plan and collaborates with the primary physical therapist when modifications or issues arise.
  • Ensures compliance with insurance rules, accreditation standards, and regulations from national and state authorities.
  • Miscellaneous assignments as delegated.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Bachelors: Physical TherapyCertification - Physical Therapist (PT) - South Dakota Board of Physical Therapy

Preferred:

Education - Masters: Physical Therapy

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
