As a unit counselor, you will be responsible for supporting patients through their recovery process, removing barriers to treatment, and ensuring continuous engagement in addiction treatment services. You will provide an example of recovery and resilience, offering hope and motivation to those in need.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Handle and manage assigned caseloads.
Facilitate weekly individual and group counseling sessions (as assigned).
Perform clinical assessments and intake processes as required.
Interact with patients professionally and empathetically at all times.
Collaborate with fellow counselors and nursing staff on patient care plans.
Promote positive communication and relationships among staff and patients.
Ensure patients adhere to the scheduled program activities.
Educate patients on daily living skills and help them maintain healthy routines.
Observe and report behavioral inconsistencies in patients to the appropriate staff and document in shift reports.
Support master-level QHP in conducting monthly workshops focused on chemical dependency.
Assist in drafting and processing incident reports following agency guidelines.
Help organize and contribute to weekly case reviews and conferences.
Assist with the clinical discharge process, ensuring patients receive all referrals and discharge information.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Uphold patient confidentiality in line with regulatory standards.
Ensure patients meet with nursing staff during the discharge process.
De-escalate patients experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties.
Act as a role model to both patients and peers.
Take on additional tasks as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications:
Active CASAC-T certification (CASAC-T only)
High school diploma or GED
Availability for shifts: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM or 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (including weekdays and weekends)
Skills:
Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities
Patient-centered approach
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
High level of attention to detail
