One of the key duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) involves overseeing the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents. This involves working with physicians and pharmacists to ensure relevant medication is administered, while following all infection control and emergency policies to ensure optimum results. As an LPN, it is also essential to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify and report any changes in residents’ condition that may require immediate attention

• The admissions process involves evaluating the medical and social needs of the residents and determining the appropriate type of care and services required
• Orders for medication completed by pharmacy and physicians
• Medication administration
• Adhering to infection prevention, emergency response, and other center policies is compulsory
• It is necessary to collaborate with a resident's interdisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes
• Any deviation from a resident's normal state should be documented and reported to the appropriate personnel in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures, ensuring that resident care is coordinated and comprehensive

LPNs must also possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals:

• The State issues licenses for LPNs who have completed their education and certification
• CPR Certification required
• A background in nursing for two years is favored
