Mental Health Counselor

Surfpoint Recovery is a cutting edge substance-use-disorder (SUD) treatment center located in Coney Island, Brooklyn NY. We are an OASAS-licensed and CARF-certified Center of Excellence. Surfpoint Recovery offers inpatient detox, withdrawal, and stabilization services, as well as inpatient rehabilitation services for individuals with substance use disorder. The Mental Health Counselor assistswiththe maintenance of policies and procedures that will be utilized in the implementation of all regulatory standards. They will also assist withensuringthatstandardofpatientcareismaintained;thesestandardsarebasedin"best practiceapproaches".

Responsibilities:

• Maintainandmanageacaseload
• Weeklyindividualandgroupcounselingsessions(asassigned).
• Performsassessment andintakeasneeded.
• Assistwiththedevelopmentofclinicaltreatmenttracksthatarediversifiedin languageand culturethat willmeet thetreatment andservice needsofpatients andfamilies.
• Assist with weekly utilization reviews based onestablished clinical and administrative protocols.
• Assistwithmonthlyskills-basedworkshopsrelativetochemicaldependency.
• Assist withthereview, process, anddistribute incident reports basedon established agency-wide protocol as directed.
• Provideinputforemployeereviewsasrequested.
• Assistinthepreparationofweeklycaseconferenceandcasereviews.
  Assistwiththeassessmentandintakeprocess.
• Assistwiththeclinicaldischargeprocess.
• Responsibleforadheringtoastandardofmaintaining10billableunitsofserviceperdaybased oncaseload.
• Record individualpatient dataintheNYC HumanResourcesAdministration (HRA)Substance abuse Tracking and Reporting System (STARS)asrequired weekly/monthly.
• Monitorspatienttoxicologytesting.

Experience:

• At least 1-year of experience in a similar setting preferred.

License/Certification:

• NYS Licensure (LMHC)
• NYS Limited Permit or Permit Eligible. (MHC-LP)
