As an Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, your primary responsibility entails collaborating effectively to deliver patient care and conduct operational tasks for the unit with a positive demeanor. Supplying occupational therapy services at external venues based on requirements. Engaging as an integral team member in healthcare by executing designated duties, allotted responsibilities, and tasks you have been educated on according to Monument Health's guidelines to address patient requirements.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Applies sound critical thinking and discernment in caring for patients. Administers all treatment modalities in adherence to established national, departmental, and evidence-based protocols. Delivers treatment that meets or surpasses departmental performance targets.
  • Providing documentation promptly and accurately to uphold department standards and validate medical need.
  • Aides in processing essential paperwork for billing, correct pricing, and permissions. Exhibits suitable time allocation based on departmental productivity criteria.
  • Displays proactive engagement in personal professional growth. Accomplishes all mandatory education within the Monument Health system and for licensure/certification promptly. Actively participates in promoting the profession within Monument Health and to the broader community.
  • Engages and informs the patient, family, and caregivers about treatment, goal setting, and discharge preparation as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with the approved occupational therapy plan and cooperates with the primary occupational therapist in addressing any adjustments or challenges encountered.
  • Fulfill any other responsibilities as designated.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Associates degree or equivalent OR graduate of accredited program for Occupational Therapist Assistant

Certification - Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapists (NBCOT)

Preferred:

Education - Bachelors: Occupational TherapyCertification - Occupational Therapist (OT) - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
