Job Summary

*UP TO $20,000 SIGN ON BONUS FOR QUALIFIED CANDIDATES*

The CT Technologist operates within a Level II trauma hospital to conduct Computed Tomography scans with the guidance of a Radiologist. They are responsible for autonomously choosing the correct exam for the Radiologist's interpretation and effectively managing all CT equipment in the suitable conditions. This role involves dealing with patients across a range of age groups, such as pediatric, geriatric, febrile, and critically ill individuals, and modifying techniques and positioning as required to secure optimal imaging outcomes.

The CT Technologist will be responsible for meeting the needs of outpatients, inpatients, and emergency department patients in a high-volume, Level II hospital, treating a range of patients including ambulatory, non-ambulatory, acute and chronically ill, trauma, and stroke patients. Duties include preparing exam rooms, transporting patients, entering exams into the Radiology Information System, scheduling CT exams, educating patients on exam preparation, ensuring correct orders and paperwork for records and billing, and communicating with medical staff as needed. The CT Technologist will maintain proficiency in PACS and will be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as directed by the department leader. Additionally, the technologist will report any equipment malfunctions or failures to their immediate supervisor, maintenance staff, or bio-med services as necessary. The CT Technologist must adhere to all policies and procedures established by the Medical Imaging Department, the facility, and the organization.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Possesses a solid understanding of patient positioning, principles of CT radiation exposure, quality assurance practices, image reconstruction methods, and specialized protocols within the setting of a Level II trauma center. This includes proficiency in procedures like TAVR, perfusion studies, Cardiac CTA, AFIB angiograms, complex trauma scenarios, and angiograms. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize patients, plan tasks effectively, assist physicians, and create a conducive learning environment.
  • Students participating in clinical rotations at Monument Health benefit from the guidance and instruction provided by radiology technologists in a supportive learning environment.
  • Adheres to infection-control policies and procedures to ensure the protection of patients and employees.
  • Higher exposure to bodily fluids, infectious specimens, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common in a level II hospital environment.
  • Focuses on patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments promptly and courteously. Obtains accurate information and properly documents on patient scheduling system. Has positive attitude and customer service mind set. Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following office policies and procedures in person and on the telephone.
  • Skilled in utilizing different types of lift equipment, such as ceiling hoists, to safely handle patients.
  • - Capable of establishing and caring for IV lines while observing appropriate aseptic practices.
  • Stimulates and maintains a sense of unity among team members. Displays a readiness to grasp new procedures and accept supplementary responsibilities. Arrives on time and prepared for the scheduled work hours.
  • Notes down relevant details in the documentation of individuals.
  • Collaborates in department maintenance by upholding cleanliness in the work area, performing preventive maintenance tasks, restocking supplies, and reporting any equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Confirms that the billing reflects the procedure and related supplies accurately.
  • Assesses the patient's condition, medical history, and healthcare provider's orders; collaborates with the radiologist on any uncertainties. Determines the appropriate positioning and ensures the accurate patient is chosen from the list.
  • Supplies radiologists with exceptional visuals for precise evaluations.
  • Methodically gets the patient and necessary equipment ready for the upcoming treatment. Educates the patient and/or their family about the scheduled procedure. Offers skilled and age-appropriate care based on the patient's age group.
  • Competently operates within designated computer programs (e.g., PACs, RIS, Vrad) and follows manual downtime processes proficiently.
  • Any other tasks as deemed necessary.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies

Graduate - Radiology Program

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer​; (ARRT)(R) (CT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with advanced certification in Cat Scan or completion of CT Registry within 12 months of hire.

Regarding BLS certification:

The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Education - Associates: Related Field Experience - 1+ years of Customer Service Experience; 1+ years of Radiographer Experience

**Policy Number: MIS-7040-115 - Caregivers must be BLS certified upon employment or within their 90-day probation period.

Physical Requirements: Very heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
