Our organization is dedicated to helping individuals who are battling substance and alcohol use disorders. We place our patients at the center of everything we do, ensuring that quality care remains our top priority.
As a unit counselor, your role will be to support patients by minimizing obstacles to treatment and keeping them actively involved in addiction recovery services. You will model effective recovery techniques and coping skills, while providing hope and encouragement to those on their recovery journey.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage caseloads efficiently.
Lead weekly individual and group counseling sessions (as scheduled).
Conduct clinical assessments and intakes when needed.
Interact with patients in a professional, empathetic, and supportive manner.
Work closely with counselors and nursing staff to discuss patient care.
Encourage positive communication among patients and staff.
Ensure patients stick to the daily activity schedule.
Teach and assist patients with daily living skills to support a healthy lifestyle.
Observe patients for any behavioral changes and report them in shift notes.
Assist a master-level QHP in conducting monthly skills workshops focused on chemical dependency.
Help prepare and process incident reports following agency guidelines.
Contribute to weekly case conferences and reviews.
Aid in the discharge process, ensuring patients have all necessary referrals and documentation.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Strictly uphold patient confidentiality in compliance with regulations.
Facilitate patients' access to nursing staff during discharge.
Help manage patients in distress by de-escalating difficult situations.
Be a positive role model for patients and fellow staff members.
Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
Valid CASAC-T certification (CASAC-T only)
High school diploma or equivalent
Availability to work shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (including weekends)
