Job Summary

**$10,000 Sign On Bonus Available for Qualified Applicants**

The Cardiac Sonographer holds the primary duty of conducting echocardiographic procedures across various settings. Essential requirements for this position include a thorough understanding of cardiovascular principles, ultrasound physics, and instrumentation. It also involves generating and assessing cardiac ultrasound images and correlated data crucial for physicians to make accurate medical assessments. Acting as a conduit among staff, physicians, patients, and family members is another responsibility of the cardiac sonographer, along with making informed decisions during clinical examinations. Providing the physician with a summarized report of technical findings and delivering patient education are part of the duties. The Cardiac Sonographer caters to individuals of all age groups and may be required to fulfill on-call duties on a rotating basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Performs thorough cardiac evaluations in accordance with established departmental protocols and guidelines.
  • Understanding the structure, function, and disorders related to the heart and blood vessels. Mastery of the anatomy, physiology, and diseases affecting the cardiovascular system. Comprehension of the intricacies of the heart's anatomy, how it functions, and the various ailments that can impact it. Knowledge about the cardiovascular system's anatomy, physiology, and the disorders that can arise. Familiarity with the makeup and functioning of the heart and blood vessels, as well as the illnesses that can afflict them. Grasping the complexities of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Knowing the ins and outs of heart and blood vessel structure, function, and disorders. Expertise in the anatomy, physiology, and diseases concerning the cardiovascular system. Proficiency in cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and the various pathological conditions associated with it.
  • Skilled in utilizing echocardiography machinery and interpreting findings.
  • Evaluates the request to ensure it contains accurate instructions, the scheduled examination date, and the reason for the examination.
  • This task involves conducting venipuncture, inserting an intravenous line, and delivering intravenous substances such as fluids, ultrasound enhancers, or other medications to improve imaging accuracy or gather extra diagnostic data.
  • Delivers precise information to cardiologists examining test results following examination guidelines and protocols.
  • Obtains the relevant imaging necessary for the particular examination purpose.
  • Shows proficiency in creating and sending echocardiogram images to the relevant PACs platform.
  • Presents initial findings for the cardiologist's review within the electronic medical records system.
  • Verifies that the type of procedure and associated materials are accurately recorded and invoiced within the electronic medical record system.
  • Meets the quality standards required for the laboratory as outlined by the director of medical imaging.
  • Being meticulous and adaptable in a high-speed healthcare setting.
  • Perform any additional tasks as required.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Associates degree in Applied Science

Certification - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Certification - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Preferred:

Experience - 1+ years of Cardiac Sonographer Experience; Experience performing TEEs within the last year; Previous experience performing Stress Echo within the last year

Education - Bachelors degree in Ultrasound

Physical Requirements:

Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
